No and yes. The light up cup holder is powered by a 5v source and wiring is included in all kits with instructions. The remote to change lighting sequences is battery operated and is included with every kit as well.
Very simple and only takes a few seconds. The wiring is designed to be disconnected near the mounting bracket and then can easily be lifted off the mounting bracket for safe access getting in between machines or when time comes to move your machine.
All kits come provided with sticky backs and zip ties to route cable along the bottom side of the machine. Is it up to the user if they choose to route into the game for power or simply to the back of the game and plug into your wall outlet.
